Heading home tomorrow !!

Had to take the boat out of the water and paint antifouling on it ; we initially installed a very expensive ultrasound device that was supposed to keep the bottom clean but after a week in the water there were hundreds of small barnacles growing on it . All the other boats painted their boat bottoms ; we should be fine now .

we went out for a meal last night with two other crews , ROW LIKE A GIRL (fours) , and a South African named Greg (solo) . Also there was one of our scrutineers, Jamie . It was an enjoyable evening .

The American fours team literally showed up at their boat along side of us with a wheelbarrow full of high protein / high calorie gym foods , and we in turn showed up with a full ham leg . a wheel of cheese and some chorizo salami ; go figure . As they say in the cricket ads , “Them / Us .”

It’s official , we start at 8:45 am tomorrow ! The wind is slowly coming back around to where it should be and we’re heading home finally . A big relief , we’ve been here three weeks and we want to go . The BBC is broadcasting it live .

We had a trial start this am , all 25 boats , and it went smoothly . Most of the other rowers were wearing sickness patches behind their ears ( glass calm outside the harbour ! ) .
