Arrived in the Canaries with JD, Peter and Archie three days ago ; long flight 8 hours to UK and five hours to the Canaries (Tenerife) then ferry to the row headquarters in La Gomera . Beautiful weather , very friendly , clean island and low prices . Here , San Sebastián ,is where Columbus stopped for provisioning on one of his voyages ; he planned to stay for only a week but ended up falling in love with a island girl and stayed a lot longer !
Had a few group meetings and met most of the other entrants . Good people all around .
Spent the last two days getting the boat ready for scrutineering by the officials ; got through without too much ado .
