Things go wrong, that is very true
Carefully laid plans sometimes fall through
Contrary winds had us in a daze
So the race was postponed for a few days
Finally we were on our way
Homeward bound, without delay
But according to Mr. Murphy’s song
Something unexpected will go wrong
One of crew bravely fought the flu
Another even had seasickness too
So instead of two on and two off as planned
We had to adapt, to what the situation did demand
Then there was our water-maker
Blew hot and cold like a sometime-ish lover
The auto-pilot was another ever present challenge
So we switched to another so that we could manage
When this one cranked out as was the other’s custom
We almost flipped and that left us in the doldrum
Now everything is focused on that tiller .
So now our greatest fight
Is someone steering and staying up through the night
Then come morning, we’re at it again
Dealing with whatever challenges remain
The food is good, they can’t complain
Better than any they’ve had back in Spain
A fresh fish meal is something to savor
Beats out any breakfast, lunch or dinner
I have to admit, they were really distraught
When that dolphin escaped that they thought they’d caught
The Mahi however, have not been so lucky
They make tasty meals thanks to our chef Archie
The granny bird, she’s always watching
Weather the crew’s asleep or rowing
Wait a sec, that’s the SAT phone ringing
I bet it the hospice lady and Observer radio calling
So while they await news of the latest happenings
I’ll be silent, and let the crew do the talking
